Sony Cancels Two Major Live Service Projects
Sony has officially halted development on two unannounced live-service games from Bend Studio (Days Gone) and Bluepoint Games (Demon’s Souls remake), as per a Bloomberg report. Jason Schreier suggests Bluepoint’s project could have been a live-service God of War game. Despite these cancellations, Sony clarified that neither studio will be closed, and their next projects are under discussion.

Sony initially planned for 12 live-service games by 2025 but scaled back to six after setbacks, including layoffs at Bungie and canceled projects like The Last of Us PvP. Remaining live-service efforts include Bungie’s Marathon and Haven Studios’ PvP game, alongside potential Horizon co-op and MMO titles. It appears Sony is reassessing its live-service strategy.
These changes come amid broader challenges for Sony's vision of integrating large-scale live-service gaming into its portfolio.
