PS5 Dominates Amazon Sales During Black Friday Month, Tripling Competitors’ Numbers
As Black Friday deals rolled into Cyber Monday, November’s sales data began surfacing, showcasing a remarkable performance by the PS5 on Amazon. According to analysts, Sony’s flagship console outpaced its competitors, with the Nintendo Switch, despite being eight years old, surpassing Xbox’s figures during this pivotal shopping season.
PS5 Outsells Nintendo Switch and Xbox by a Significant Margin
In a detailed analysis shared on the Install Base Forums, the PS5 emerged as the clear leader, with around 153,000 units sold on Amazon in November. This marks a 25% increase compared to November 2023’s estimated 122,000 units. A substantial portion of these sales came from the new PlayStation 5 Pro, which sold between 20,000 and 30,000 units, while the PS5 Slim accounted for approximately 90,000 units.
While the Nintendo Switch saw a significant drop in sales from 143,000 in November 2023 to 56,000 this year, it still managed to outperform Xbox, which sold an estimated 32,000 units.
Mixed Fortunes for Competitors
Microsoft's Xbox continues to face challenges, despite the success of key titles like Call of Duty and growth in Game Pass subscriptions. The company has dealt with numerous layoffs in its gaming division over the past two years but remains committed to the console market.
Nintendo, despite limited major releases in 2024, performed well, maintaining a strong foothold as it approaches the end of the Switch’s life cycle. Speculation surrounding the release of the Switch 2 has further fueled interest in the brand.
