With the party stranded in the enigmatic Arlathan Forest, a Veil Jumper named Bellara Lutara offers her assistance in locating an ancient artifact. This relic is key to breaking free from the Veil's grasp. "In Entropy’s Grasp" serves as the third main quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. This guide walks you through every step needed to complete it.
Starting the In Entropy's Grasp Quest
At Entropy's Grasp Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, your options remain limited. As part of the Shadow of Ancient Arlathan quest, you’ll use an Eluvian to travel to Arlathan Forest. Here, your team becomes temporarily stranded. Thankfully, a nearby Veil Jumper, Bellara Lutara, might provide the help you need.
Finding Bellara Lutara
Your first objective for In Entropy's Grasp quest, in Arlathan Forest is to locate Bellara Lutara. The companion who isn’t injured will accompany you, while the other remains with the rest of the Veil Jumpers.
- Head west down a slope where you'll encounter a Construct. This enemy has an Armor bar you must deplete using heavy attacks before you can reduce its health.
- After defeating the Construct, a cutscene will introduce Bellara Lutara, who will join your party. If Harding is your companion, their synergy with Bellara can unlock Combos, which will prove valuable throughout the quest.
- Ensure at least one companion is equipped with a healing ability to maintain your team’s survival.
Reaching the Temple In Entropy's Grasp
After regaining control, follow the river to the north. Look for a hidden path on the left containing a chest. Continue north, bypassing a bridge by going under it to find a ladder leading to another chest.
Return to the slope and cross the bridge, where a group of Demons will ambush you. These foes lack armor but demand strategic use of your companion’s abilities to overcome.
- Once victorious, enter the Elven Temple to find a large chest containing class-specific gear. For a Warrior, this could be Light Armor.
- Open the temple’s northern doors to proceed outside.
Forest Path Challenges
The path ahead is linear but packed with puzzles and enemies.
- You’ll encounter a wide gap that seems impassable. Look for a Power Crystal on the right, place it on the pedestal, and activate a bridge.
- Upon crossing, you’ll find a Resonance Amplifier. Have Bellara interact with it to activate it, triggering waves of enemy attacks.
Enemies will include:
- Lesser Voltaic Shades with Barriers—use ranged attacks to break them.
- A combination of similar enemies, requiring careful dodging and efficient attacks.
Continue north along the Mountain Path, defeating another Sentinel along the way, until you reach the Cliff Wolf Temple.
Exploring Cliff Wolf Temple
Inside the temple:
- Use a Power Crystal from the pedestal to unlock a door.
- Proceed through the next area, looting chests for potential weapons or armor upgrades.
- Prepare for a fight with four inactive Sentinels that will activate simultaneously. Avoid letting them overwhelm you by keeping mobile in the confined space.
Exiting this area leads back outside. Here, you’ll encounter a swarm of Darkspawn, which are weak but numerous. Use AoE attacks to manage the crowd efficiently.
- Find another Resonance Amplifier near the bridge and repeat the enemy-defense sequence with Bellara.
- After clearing the Darkspawn, cross the bridge to find a Ballista. Use it to break a wall and eliminate any incoming enemies.
The Final Resonance Amplifier
Further along the path, you’ll find a third Resonance Amplifier guarded by waves of enemies. Protect Bellara once again, and once the enemies are cleared, you’ll gain access to the temple containing the artifact.
Inside the Artifact Temple
- Loot a Gear Chest upon entering, but beware of gas traps.
- Proceed through the available door to trigger a cinematic that introduces the boss battle.
Defeating the Ogre
The Ogre is the toughest foe so far, combining slow yet devastating attacks with high durability.
- Armor Mechanics: Use heavy attacks to deplete its Armor bar. The Ogre is weak to Fire, so leverage any class abilities that exploit this weakness.
- Avoidance: Watch for red glows signaling an unblockable attack. Dodge swiftly to avoid heavy damage.
As the fight progresses, a tutorial will explain your Ultimate Ability, which charges as you deal or take damage. Use it to land a decisive blow on the Ogre.
In Entropy's Grasp Quest Completion
Once the Ogre is defeated:
- Level up and allocate Bond Points to upgrade your companions' skills.
- Loot nearby chests for valuable rewards.
- Speak with Bellara Lutara to conclude the quest.
