Asinia, the Praetor's Consort, is one of the key challenges in the Sorrow Among Stones quest in Act 1 of Path of Exile 2. To progress, you’ll need to explore two mausoleums, defeat the bosses within, and collect key pieces to unlock the Memorial Gate. Asinia resides in one of these mausoleums, posing a significant challenge with her variety of attacks and mechanics.
Locating Asinia, the Praetor's Consort in Path of Exile 2
To face Asinia, head to the Tomb of Consorts in Path of Exile 2, located within the Cemetery of the Eternals, a Level 8 dungeon. While the Cemetery is relatively small compared to other maps, ensure your character is at least Level 8 before entering. It’s also recommended to boost your Fire Resistance, as the enemies in the tomb frequently utilize fire-based attacks.
Inside the dungeon, navigate through its winding pathways until you reach a large chamber, marked by a Checkpoint indicating you're on the right path. Expect tougher enemies compared to those in the Mausoleum of the Praetor. Ranged classes should maintain distance, while melee players should stay mobile to avoid frequent attacks.
Before confronting Asinia, explore the Haunted Treasure point of interest, where defeating an Elite enemy grants access to a chest with potentially valuable loot.
Combat Strategy for Asinia, the Praetor's Consort in Path of Exile 2
The arena’s spacious layout is a clue that Asinia’s attacks often target wide areas. You’ll need to remain mobile, dodging her powerful abilities while seizing opportunities to strike. Below is a breakdown of her key attacks and strategies to counter them:
Spirit Sigils
Asinia summons large sigils on the ground that explode after a short delay, dealing devastating damage. Constant movement is critical during this attack. Do not prioritize offense; instead, focus on avoiding explosions.
Melee Combo
She wields a sickle in a chain of up to four strikes, targeting a small arc in front of her. This attack is predictable and easy to dodge. Maintain distance or counterattack with ranged abilities.
Teleport Shockwave
Asinia teleports to your location, causing a shockwave on impact. If you notice her teleporting, immediately move to avoid being caught in the blast.
Spirit Trap
She casts a spell that reduces your movement and rolling speed, making it harder to dodge. When trapped, focus on evading her attacks rather than retaliating, especially if combined with Spirit Sigils.
Bone Wall
Asinia creates a circular wall of bones around you, trapping you in a confined space. Quickly target and destroy a section of the wall to escape, as she often follows this with Bone Spears inside the enclosure.
Skull Volley
She fires a barrage of spiritual skulls toward your position. Create distance and keep moving to minimize damage. In later phases, this attack may overlap with Spirit Sigils, increasing its lethality.
Summon Draven
Asinia calls upon Draven, the other boss of this quest, to assist her with Spirit Bolts, which fire in an arc. Maintain distance and focus on maneuvering through the gaps in his attacks.
Spirit Absorption
Multiple spirits appear on the battlefield, moving toward Asinia. If she absorbs them, her attacks are enhanced. Intercept these spirits to dissipate them and prevent her from gaining the buffs.
Winning the Fight
Positioning and timing are essential in this battle. Be wary of the pit in the arena’s center, as it can obstruct your movement and make dodging harder.
The best openings for attacking Asinia occur:
- After Breaking the Bone Wall: If you escape quickly, you can land several strikes while she continues casting Bone Spears.
- Following Teleport Shockwave: If you sidestep the shockwave, Asinia is momentarily vulnerable.
Ranged players will find it easier to exploit these opportunities, while melee fighters may need to practice precise dodging.
Rewards and Key Progression
Once defeated, Asinia drops Asinia’s Memorial Key Piece, along with other randomized loot. If this is the first boss you’ve defeated in the Sorrow Among Stones quest, proceed to defeat Draven to collect the second key piece. Otherwise, combine both pieces to unlock the Memorial Gate and advance in the story.
Good luck, Exile!
