How to start the game

We'll start this fisch guide with how to begin. First, you gotta talk to an NPC named Pier. He'll give you the basic tutorial, which covers the main mechanics of the game.

• Equipment Bag: Holds your fishing rods.
• Beastiary: Records info on every fish you catch.

How to fish in Fisch?

To fish and cast your line, you need to do three actions:

• Click once to cast your line.
• Click again to release the bobber.
• To increase your catch speed, you need to wiggle.

When you see an exclamation mark, a progress bar appears under the fish icon. Now, by clicking rapidly or pressing the space bar quickly, you need to keep the indicator aligned to fill the catch progress bar.

After you've caught a few fish with the Flimsy Rod, you should go to a merchant to sell the fish you caught and earn enough money to upgrade. With the money you get, I suggest buying the Training Rod. With this rod, you can catch more fish and easily catch the early ones. After these initial steps, head to Forsaken Shores because it gives you lots of XP, especially by catching Captain's Goldfish.

What are mutations in Fisch?

The next part I wanna cover in this fisch guide is mutations. After playing for a while, you'll notice that the fish you catch have different variants like Electric, Albino, Nuclear, or Translucent. These mutations don't affect the fish's stats, but fish that have them are rarer and therefore sell for more.

One thing to note: you can pay an NPC called the Appraiser to randomly change a fish's mutation.

Whirlpools and teleporting to special areas

Sometimes in the game, you'll come across whirlpools that randomly appear in different spots on the map. They come in two types:

• Simple whirlpools: These usually aren't dangerous, and you can ignore them.
• Whirlpools with a beam of light: You should take these seriously. They teleport you to special underground areas like The Vertigo, which have unique fish. I don't suggest going to these areas without special gear.

Fishing in The Vertigo

You can't fish easily in The Vertigo. For this, you need Crab Cages, which you can buy from vendors on the island. After entering The Vertigo, you should place the Crab Cages near a rock in the center to catch the area's special fish, like Night Shrimp.

Rare items can be found in this area, like Depths Keys and Enchanted Relics. You shouldn't sell these. I suggest locking them so you don't accidentally sell them.

The Desolate Deep area

The next area I'm introducing in this fisch guide as the next step for progression is Desolate Deep. This area is underwater near Moosewood Village, and you need to complete its Beastiary. To do this, you'll need a few specific items:

• Basic Diving Gear: Prevents you from drowning and lets you dive.
• GPS: You'll need it to get to the exact coordinates.

One thing to watch out for are the Sea Mines around this area. They explode on contact, and you know the rest.

Trident Rod and the Statue of Sovereignty

After you finish Desolate Deep and collect five Enchanted Relics, you can go to the underwater cave that holds a Trident Rod. It's really important to get this Rod because it has high speed and control, making it easier to catch fish.

After you get this Rod, you need to go to the Statue of Sovereignty to upgrade it. Just keep in mind that you can only go there at night and upgrade the Rod.

With stronger Rods, you can fish more easily and have a better chance of getting very rare, high-value fish in different areas of the game.
