Official Nintendo Joy-Con charging stand Launches Today
Nintendo has delivered some exciting surprises this year, from making Princess Zelda a playable character in The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, to reviving the Mario & Luigi RPG series. But perhaps the most unexpected—though not the most thrilling—surprise is the release of first official Nintendo Joy-Con charging stand. While the Nintendo Switch has been out for over seven years, it’s only now that a first-party charging stand has been introduced.
If you’ve been waiting since 2017 for an official Switch charging stand, today’s the day. The Nintendo Joy-Con Charging Stand launched on October 17 and is now available for $30 at major retailers.

Official Nintendo Joy-Con Two-Way Charging Stand
First announced in July, Nintendo's new charging stand retails for $30 and is available at Best Buy, Target, and GameStop. While it may not be on shelves yet, you can order it online and pick it up in-store within a week or so.
Although this is Nintendo's first official Joy-Con charging stand, it’s not their first charger for Joy-Cons. The Joy-Con Charging Grip, now discontinued, was among the few first-party accessories released in 2017 with the original Switch. It allowed players to charge while playing and featured ergonomic handles, though it didn’t function as a stand. Now, the new Two-Way Charging Stand drops the handles in favor of a more streamlined design.
For those who prefer the older Joy-Con Charging Grip, you can still find pre-owned versions for $20 at GameStop or a new Japanese edition on Amazon for $32, fully compatible with North American Joy-Cons.
Nintendo's Two-Way Charging Stand is a first-of-its-kind product, but it’s not the only licensed Joy-Con charging station available. There are several third-party options, like PowerA’s Joy-Con Charging Dock, originally priced at $30 but now discounted to $20 on Amazon. This dock charges up to four Joy-Cons at once. Hori also offers a similar charging station for four controllers at $30.
