Helldivers 2 Sparks Controversial Adult Knockoff on Steam
This weekend, a questionable adult imitation of Helldivers 2 made its debut on Steam, causing quite a stir. Titled "SEXDIVERS", the game blatantly copies the style and mechanics of Arrowhead's acclaimed live-service shooter, replacing its themes of democracy and freedom with 18+ "steamy scenes."
Created by Octo Games, known for titles like Cumverse and Furry Survivals 18+, SEXDIVERS mimics the look of Helldivers 2 to an almost comical degree. From battling Terminid-like bugs to wearing armor strikingly similar to that of the Helldivers, the similarities are undeniable. However, instead of a thrilling gameplay experience, players get scenes described as "video calls from hotties" awkwardly displayed over the health bar. Think TikTok's Subway Surfer trend, but with a very adult twist.
Unsurprisingly, the game relies heavily on AI-generated content, which is a growing trend in quick, low-effort releases.
Helldivers 2, A Laughable Attempt with Broken Gameplay

SEXDIVERS has unsurprisingly gained notoriety for being a poorly made cash grab. Priced at £4.74, the game has garnered mixed Steam reviews, with its "Very Positive" rating being largely ironic or protest posts. Critics, however, are painting a much grimmer picture:
Technical Issues
Players report that basic functions like controller support, keybinds, and airdrops are either broken or unusable.
Outdated Gameplay
The gameplay feels like "a mobile game from a decade ago," with waves of enemies endlessly spawning and getting stuck in the environment.
Subpar Scenes
Even the game's "main attraction" – the 18+ content – is simply low-quality GIFs.

One user summarized the game as “one of the worst, laziest cash grabs ever,” pointing out that there are only three enemy types, bad AI, repetitive voice lines, and gameplay riddled with bugs.
For a game riding on Helldivers 2’s success, it’s a far cry from delivering the same quality.
