Final Fantasy 7 Remake is progressing rapidly
Exciting news has emerged for Final Fantasy 7 Remake fans! Square Enix has shared fresh details about the development of the highly anticipated trilogy.
Final Chapter Script Completed
Tetsuya Nomura, director of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy, recently confirmed that the script for the final installment is now complete. Square Enix previously managed to develop Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth in a relatively short time and aims to maintain the same pace and efficiency for the concluding part of the trilogy.

Nomura’s statements were published in Final Fantasy 7 Remake: Material Ultimania Plus, a book covering behind-the-scenes insights into the first two games while also hinting at the trilogy’s future. According to a translated excerpt shared by an X (formerly Twitter) user, Nomura expects voice recording for the upcoming game to commence soon.
A Three-Year Development Goal

Game producer Yoshinori Kitase has expressed optimism that the final installment’s development will be completed within three years—the same time frame it took to develop Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The team worked on the first game and its DLC until 2021, then delivered Rebirth in less than three years. Given that the same development team is handling the final part, Kitase anticipates a similarly efficient production cycle.
New Story Additions to Surprise Fans
Another intriguing revelation from the book is that Nomura is incorporating new story elements suggested by Kitase—content that wasn’t present in the original Final Fantasy 7. If executed well, Nomura believes these additions will delight longtime fans.

Since 2022, it has been officially confirmed that development on the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series is actively progressing. Earlier this year, further updates indicated substantial progress in writing the story for the upcoming chapter.
What to Expect in the Next Installment?
Following the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, game director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that the next installment will include locations and content that were omitted from Rebirth. These additions may feature Rocket Town and further connections to Final Fantasy 7 Compilation titles. Hamaguchi also hinted at potential updates to the game’s world map, possibly introducing air travel as a new exploration feature.

With Square Enix pushing forward at full speed, the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy is shaping up to be an unforgettable journey for both longtime fans and new players alike. Stay tuned for more updates!
