Diablo 4 New Update: Implements Major Changes to Unique Items
In Diablo 4 New Update, From Season 6 onward, players will experience a significant boost in obtaining Unique Ancestral items, with chances tripling. Season 6, which launched on October 7, introduces the new questline “Creeping Hatred”, featuring Mephisto. The return of the Lord of Hatred raises the stakes for adventurers, as the game now includes new creatures known as Realmwalkers. In addition, players seeking to personalize their characters can enjoy a new Battle Pass and Journey season, offering unlockable rewards. Season 6 also brings major changes to progression systems, affecting Paragon, leveling, stats, and difficulty.
A key highlight for players is the tripling of the drop rate for Unique items with Ancestral quality, which will officially take effect when the Vessel of Hatred expansion launches. The news, revealed during a developer livestream, follows extensive testing in the Season 6 PTR, where Blizzard experimented with drop rates for Ancestral and Unique items, gathering feedback from the community. Players currently need to tackle World Tier 4: Torment — the game's most difficult setting — to obtain Ancestral items.
Boost Ancestral Unique Item Drops and More in Diablo 4 New Update
- Unique items now have a tripled chance of dropping with Ancestral quality.
- Ancestral item drop rates have increased in Nightmare Dungeons and Whispers.
- Ancestral items will always feature Power 800 and at least one Greater Affix.

These changes drastically improve the chances of finding Ancestral items in Diablo 4's most challenging areas, such as Nightmare Dungeons and Whispers. Additionally, Greater Affixes will only appear on Ancestral items, all of which will now drop with Power 800, the highest available. One of the more notable changes is the removal of Sacred item drops, with existing Sacred items being labeled Legacy. Players can still use them, but they will no longer be upgradeable.
With the start of Season 6 and the highly anticipated Vessel of Hatred expansion, the Diablo 4 community has much to look forward to. All classes in the game have received new skills and passives, potentially leading to fresh builds and new gameplay styles.
