Is Call of Duty Receive Major Battle Pass Like Never Before?
A Quick Look Back: From DLCs to Battle Passes
Once upon a time, Call of Duty was all about paid DLC packs. You'd get map packs, new guns, and cosmetics in seasonal drops. But when Fortnite took the world by storm with its Battle Pass format, CoD followed suit — giving us free and premium progression paths where XP unlocks all kinds of goodies.
So far, the biggest change was when CoD ditched the tier-based system for a more flexible page-style layout. But now? It sounds like they're doubling down on seasonal content.
What’s Changing in Call of Duty 2025?
According to well-known leaker TheGhostOfHope, Activision and Treyarch are planning to add more seasonal LTMs (limited-time modes), some packed with exclusive mechanics and higher-value rewards. Here’s the catch: you’ll need to own the Battle Pass to even access some of them.
Yep — instead of being open to all, some LTMs will now be locked behind a paywall. So if you're into cool new modes and special rewards, you'll need to invest.
Premium Content = Premium Access
Another big change? Those epic Operator skins, exclusive loot drops, and crossover events — all that juicy mid-season content — might be going Battle Pass only.
The leaker claims that Black Ops 6's current "Premium Event Track" could be replaced entirely by Battle Pass-locked access. In other words, if you don't have the pass, you miss out.
What Does This Mean for Players?
This is a huge shift in how content is delivered. Sure, monetization has always been a big part of CoD’s structure, but putting major gameplay content behind the COD Battle Pass changes the vibe. The community’s reaction will definitely shape how far these changes go.
Until Activision confirms anything, treat this as a big maybe — things can still evolve during development. But it’s definitely something worth watching.
