Start the Quest in RuneScape DragonWilds: Highlighting the Problem

The journey to the Staff of Light kicks off with the “Highlighting the Problem” quest. Head to the Rune Crafting Guild and grab the lore book near the entrance. It hints at an ancient vault nearby with a statue that holds the key to the staff. From the guild, walk down the hill, jump down the ledges, and you’ll spot the vault entrance—it’s easy to find but packed with rats and traps. I was rocking a bronze dagger when I first tried this (big mistake!), so gear up with at least a Granite Maul before diving in!
Find the Statue & Get the Crystal Orb in RuneScape DragonWilds
Inside the vault, fight your way through rats and dodge traps to reach the statue. Interact with it, and a message will pop up: “Ventura.” That’s the password! Head back to the Rune Crafting Guild, talk to the statue there, and use the password “Ventura.” A panel will slide open, revealing a Crystal Orb.

A mysterious voice (probably some ancient wizard) will guide you: charge the orb on three pedestals around the guild to create the Staff of Light. Pick up any Vault Shards and Vault Cores you find in the dungeon—they’re crucial for crafting later!
Charge the Crystal Orb in RuneScape DragonWilds: Pedestal Puzzle
Now, you need to charge the Crystal Orb at three pedestals around the Rune Crafting Guild. They’re on the towers, but reaching them is a bit tricky—lots of jumping and climbing! Place the orb on each pedestal, and it’ll glow as it absorbs energy.

The first two were easy, but the third had me slipping off the tower (super annoying!). Once all three are charged, return to the statue. It’ll combine the orb with a staff shaft, and boom—you’ve got the recipe for the Staff of Light! I felt like a real wizard hearing that ancient voice congratulate me.

Gather Resources for the Staff of Light in RuneScape DragonWilds
To craft the Staff of Light, you’ll need: 16 Blight Wood, 8 Wild Anima, 4 Sapphire, 12 Vault Shards, and 1 Vault Core. Here’s where to find ‘em:

Wild Anima (Fractured Plains)
Look for thick trees with Anima-Fused Bark scattered around. Collect the bark, then smelt it in a kiln—4 bark makes 1 Wild Anima (super costly, so stock up!).
Sapphire & Blight Wood (Bloodblight Swamp)
This area poisons you, so craft Antipoison Potions first (2 Bittercap Mushrooms + 1 Elandor from Whispering Swamp). Mine gold nodes for a chance at Sapphire (a recent patch fixed the drop rate—took me 4 hours before that!), and chop tree roots for Blight Wood.
I grinded for Sapphire like crazy—seeing that first one drop was pure joy! What resource was toughest for you?
Craft & Wield the Staff of Light in RuneScape DragonWilds
Head to a crafting table with your materials: 16 Blight Wood, 8 Wild Anima, 4 Sapphire, 12 Vault Shards, and 1 Vault Core. Craft the Staff of Light, and it’s yours! It looks epic with glowing red and blue accents—perfect for wizards in Saradomin’s domain.

One downside: it’s two-handed, so no shield. My mage build isn’t optimized (I’m all about looking cool with my wizard hat!), but this staff still slaps. I zapped a dragon in Fractured Plains, and it was glorious! How’s your Staff of Light working out?
