The Cornered in the Catacombs Quest in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a side mission that unlocks in Dock Town after completing *A Warden's Best Friend*. This guide will help you complete the quest and earn faction points with both the Shadow Dragons and Grey Wardens as you navigate the catacombs and take on waves of Darkspawn enemies.
Locating the Grey Warden in Cornered in the Catacombs Quest
Near the Shadow Dragons' Sanctum, you’ll encounter a wounded Grey Warden who needs help finding Darkspawn. Follow the quest marker to the Eastern docks, where you’ll notice an open door that was previously shut.
Entering the catacombs, prepare for battles against groups of Darkspawn. Focus on destroying the Blight spots in each encounter, as smaller enemies will keep spawning if these remain intact, making the fights manageable.
After the second encounter, summon Davrin’s griffon to target a large Blight overhead, and then use ranged attacks to destroy the Blight spots that appear. The spots are temporary, so you’ll need to use Assan's skills repeatedly to clear them all before moving forward.
Next, use Harding’s ability to clear rocks blocking your path, opening a line of sight for a beam to activate an ancient elven device. Head up the stairs and destroy another Blight spot, following its trail to a doorway that leads to the final area. There, you’ll face one last wave of Darkspawn—prioritize the Blight spots to prevent prolonged spawning.
Return to the Grey Warden to complete the quest, receiving 50 faction points each for the Shadow Dragons and Grey Wardens, along with a bond boost with your party members.
