In Palworld, the stronger your start, the faster you'll progress. It's not hard, you just gotta follow the little tips I'm giving you in this Palworld guide. These tips go from basic settings to picking the first Pals to catch and the best spot to build your base. To learn these tips, definitely check out these game guides.
Basic settings before starting Palworld
Before you start the game, we need to adjust some settings for a better gameplay experience. The settings I suggest in this Palworld guide are:
- Definitely enable "single button press for hold interactions" so you don't need to hold down buttons while crafting.
- Enable Auto Run so you don't have to hold the sprint button on long trips.
- Turn on Field of View for a wider view.
Distributing your first stat points
For a strong start, you need to distribute your stats correctly. If you mess this up, your progress speed could slow down a lot. I suggest you distribute your stats in this order:
- Weight: Starts at 300; you should increase it to 1000.
- After getting Weight to 1000, increase Stamina to 200.
- After that, focus on Health.
One thing to keep in mind: you should ignore Attack and Work Speed because your Pals will handle those tasks.
Choosing the right base location
The next part of this Palworld guide is where to place your base, because it directly affects your progress speed. My suggestion is coordinates -31, -86. Why this spot?
- It's a completely flat, even area.
- Easy access to stone, wood, and red berries.
- There's a small iron mine nearby, so you won't have resource problems.
- There are 3 Fast Travel points nearby.
- Lots of space to expand your base.
One thing to be careful about: don't build your base on resource spawns like stone and wood, because they'll stop spawning there, and you'll lose that resource.
Important Pals to get early in the game
The most important part of the game and the foundation of your progress are the Pals you catch and use in your base. In this Palworld guide, I'll tell you the most important Pals to go after early on:
Pals needed for base work
- Cattiva: This Pal does everything for you—mining, base construction, and transporting.
- Lifmunk: Very useful for your base, especially for farm work.
- Foxsparks: Useful for smelting metals, cooking food, and kindling.
- Vixy: Can produce various items on the farm.
Nighttime hunting Pal
If you're having trouble capturing Pals early on, I recommend Daydream. You can find this Pal at night, and its main feature is reducing enemy health to 1, not lower. I suggest using 3 Daydreams to capture Pals quickly and with the highest chance.
Mounts in Palworld
One of the perks of Palworld is using various mounts to travel quickly across the map, whether on land, in the air, or on water.
- Early on, use Eikthyrdeer or Direhowl as land mounts to help you get around.
- The first flying mount you can get is Nitewing, which lets you unlock new areas.
- Chillet is a water mount with good speed for traveling across water.
How to use the Grapple Glide?
A very useful move that can help you a lot. To do it, first shoot the Grapple toward the ground, then press the dodge button to cancel the Grapple movement, and immediately activate your Glide. This lets you cover longer distances with the same stamina and can even be faster than a mount.
Watch your temperature
In different areas of Palworld, you'll face different temperatures, so when exploring, always be prepared:
- Use armor that has good resistance to both cold and heat.
- Always keep fire-type and ice-type Pals in your team to use when the temperature changes.
- There's a temperature indicator at the bottom of the screen. Make sure to check it regularly so you don't forget about the environment.

At the end of this Palworld guide, here are some general tips to help you get a strong start:
