Nintendo Switch Online Update Adds Donkey Kong Land Title
Nintendo Switch Online subscribers have a new nostalgic adventure to enjoy: the 1995 Game Boy classic Donkey Kong Land is now available on the service. This update comes shortly after the 30th anniversary of the SNES classic Donkey Kong Country, making it a perfect celebration for fans of the iconic series.
Originally developed by Nintendo and Rare, Donkey Kong Land is a 2D platformer that expands on the beloved Donkey Kong Country trilogy. Released in June 1995, it features Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong embarking on a mission to reclaim their stolen banana hoard, which was taken by their nemesis, King K. Rool, after a challenge from Cranky Kong. With 30 levels across four distinct worlds, the game quickly earned its place as one of the most cherished titles in the franchise, even spawning its own trilogy with sequels in 1996 and 1997.
To access Donkey Kong Land, Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can download the game through the Game Boy app. The app should update automatically when connected to the Internet, but users can also manually trigger the update by selecting "Software Update" in the Options menu and choosing "Update via Internet."
