Dominating the Samurai Way: Ghost of Yotei Top EARLY Weapons and Abilities

In order to effectively master the Ghost of Yotei fight and have an easy early game, players will be required to work on obtaining the Ghost of Yotei Best EARLY Weapons and their corresponding skills. Sucker Punch clearly learned a lesson from previous games and ensured godly combat freedom and depth right from the start. This guide covers the best early-game weapons, primary skills, and the accurate steps in order to unlock them and build them into titans.
Unleashing the Ghost of Yotei Best EARLY Weapons
The first few hours provide access to equipment that can greatly change your combat style, outside of the default Katana.

Dual Katana: Way of the Dual Blade
The Dual Katana is an enormous upgrade, especially against spear-wielding enemies, but one ability makes it truly shine.
Unlock Method: Obtained through the Way of the Dual Katana shortly after the prologue is over.
Core Early Skill: Tōki's Wild Slash
How to Get It: Find and slay the boss at the Mythical Field (the first is located just west of your home point). Slaying this boss reveals the others on the map.
Why It's Handy: For just one Spirit Point, this attack has one of the longest invulnerability animations in the game. It does enormous amounts of damage, and you can jump from target to target while still being completely unstoppable.
Mid-Game Upgrade: The Dual Tempest Strike contributes to the weapon's versatility by adding two more unblockable attacks to the normal combo flow.
Odachi (Greatsword): The Unstoppable Force

The Odachi , this enormous greatsword, is a fine choice for players looking for raw, in-your-face force-breaking defenses and is one of the Ghost of Yotei Best EARLY Weapons.
Unlock Method: Unlocked via the Side of the Brothers mission chain, bought at Master Yushe's dojo on your first visit to the Kotsushi Range.
Core Abilities (Required Upgrades):
Improved Bulwark Stance: This upgrade significantly speeds up the weapon's naturally slow attack cadence.
Unstoppable Strikes: This upgrade makes all of your Odachi attacks uninteruptable, and you a force to be reckoned with against multiple foes.
Ultimate Attack: Mountain Breaker:
The Sensei finally teaches you this special ability.
It's a single-target slam that typically one-Shots common enemies by slams them into the ground with great force.
KusariGama (Claw & Talon): Group Wipe

Unlocked within the Kōtsuke questline, the KusariGama is a class that doesn't come into its own until you spend more time, and by mid-to-end game, it's fiendishly powerful—more so than the Odachi for clearing out huge mobs of enemies.
Hiroshima Whirlwind: Excellent early attack. A quick triangle sweep automatically disarms all the enemies surrounding you if they try a yellow-tag charge. The range is insane.
Lethal Talons: A strong assassination ability that yanks a target in Scorpion-style for a quick hack-and-slash finisher. This can be upgraded to one-shot Brutes and ultimately cost zero Spirit.
Ferocious Cyclone: The fully upgraded Whirlwind, adding three additional follow-up attacks that, particularly when combined with the Spirit Fire buff, will clear out entire enemy encampments like they're nothing.
Top Tier Early Abilities (Not Weapon Specific)
In addition to main weapons, two secondaries are crucial for improving survivability and utility, particularly in early hours.

Early Game Utilities
These utilities need to be upgraded through your starting Technique Points for general gameplay utility:
Hunter Vision (Vision): Unlocked later in the Kōtsuke questline (about the second-to-last mission). This skill, which most players bypassed from the first game, is invaluable with Yotei's new ambush-type enemies. Being able to sense enemies behind walls and prepare ahead of time for stealth kills is a lifesaver.
Smoke Bombs: Unlocked in the same order as the Hunter Vision. These are needed to control crowds, to retreat tactically, and to facilitate stealth kills when ambushed by packs of enemies who are hiding in the foliage or bushes.
The All-Rio Strike (Katana Utility)
This is an amazing Katana skill that significantly increases your utility and Spirit generation:
What it Does: It enables you to utilize your own yellow attacks (can't be countered by normal means) that the bad guys use on you. Hitting L1 + R1 instantly disarms any foe you attack.
Tactical Use: Disarm target, then pick up their dropped weapon and throw it at other target or back at unarmed target. Very good crowd control and massive fun factor enhancement.
Unlock: Found a mere handful of points lower than the Katana's base Attack Tree.
Early-Game Recommended Strategy for Quick Power Acquisition
Optimize your early-game experience by making smart investments in order to obtain best-in-class tools in the shortest amount of time.

The Early-Game Investment Path
Prioritize: Unlocks the Dual Katana first (following the prologue).
Focus: Obtain the Tōki's Wild Slash Mythical Technique in order to gain guaranteed stagger and invulnerability.
Acquire: Give the side missions offering rewards for the Odachi top priority and acquire points in Unstoppable Strikes and Improved Bulwark Stance as quickly as possible.
Utility: Acquire Hunter Vision and Smoke Bombs as soon soon as they are available in the Kōtsuke questline.
By putting these go-to weapons and abilities first, you can make your early Ghost of Yotei life one of mastery, not struggle.
Which of the two ancient weapons do you think gives you the best return on investment: the Dual Katana's speed or the sheer force of the Odachi?
