How to Acquire Service of Luzaku in Destiny 2 Renegades (Exotic Machine Gun)
The weapon is the Service of Luzaku, an Exotic Strand Machine Gun, very much suited to supporting a player in a minion-spawning utility. It hints at a deeper lore tie within the Renegades narrative by referencing Luzaku, a figure associated with the Lucent Hive. Importantly, this weapon is the seasonal track Exotic for the expansion, so all players will eventually be able to Get Service of Luzaku in Destiny 2 Renegades. It is available to free-to-play users at Rank 70 at the end of the season. They immediately get it.
As a Heavy Machine Gun at 360 Rounds per Minute (RPM), its base stats are strong, impressive Range coupled with Stability and a Handling stat of 95; Reload Speed is in the lower end of the range. However, it has awesome unique perks that far outweigh this small downside.
Exotic Intrinsic Trait: The Healing Loop (Dichotomy Thread)
The intrinsic perk, Dichotomy Thread, creates an innovative gameplay loop by making a weapon into a high-quality supportive instrument, sometimes toally even for the ally.
The two-step mechanism on how the perk works is:
Charging: Hitting targets with weapon builds a "Restorative Charge" which is tracked through a visual on the reticle.
Healing/Reloading: Once charged, hip-firing at allies dispenses seeking shots of healing. Such action does not expend heavy ammunition while simultaneously reloading the weapon's magazine from reserves.
This design is seamless and allows a transition between dealing damage and going into support, straight from, entirely depending on the utility of a weapon. Also, rapid healing of allies fires up temporary boosts to weapon damage and spawns up Threadlings from healed allies, leading to further rewarding cooperation with synergistically encouraging seek-out healing allies at all times.
Expert Analysis: Mastering the Loop
Tested it out on the weapon, and in essence, what this has meant is that charging from one area to sustaining this heal/reload loop becomes the basis of ensuring uptime for damage maximization. That altogether fights off the general slowness of these reloads. Add to the call-to-arms kind of playing a support-y role, as some part of the otters relies completely on your keeping healthy.
Exotic Perk: Minion Spawning (Meaning Making)
The secondary Exotic perk is Meaning Making. This is arguably the most different and excitingly played factor of the Service of Luzaku in Destiny 2 Renegades that lets you, as a Guardian, spawn feathers, or "Dreadlings," as they are sometimes called.
How the perk works:
Ness Creation: Finishing kills with this really creates a permanent Dreadling Ness: a stationary object that will spawn more Threadlings from time to time.
Synergy: Any finisher kill near the already present Dreadling Ness will produce even more Threadlings. This works similar to that of Hatchling aspect mechanics and encourages the player to stay near their spawned turrets.
The Threadlings catch their target every four to four-and-a-half seconds in always an unpredictable manner. Most interestingly, we have observed that hip-fire healing shots applied onto the Ness itself will actually speed up Threadling spawn rate, which already adds up another detail to this support loop.
The Exotic Catalyst: Tangle Generation
The Service of Luzaku's Exotic Catalyst is available upon reaching Rank 90 of the Season Pass, providing exceptional, additional utility for the Dreadling Ness.
Affecting Crafter states that Ness will age over time and can be harvested to provide a fully formed Strand Tangle to the player.
Using the player needs:
Devote the Ness: The Ness features a timer (viewed as a health bar) that withers down and after about ten seconds explodes and vanishes.
Maturity through Healing: Players are required to use these hip-fire healing shots on the Ness to prolong the time of Ness and make it completely mature into Tangle.
If the Ness matures fully, it transforms, and interacting with it will grant an instant Tangle. This will hereby activate many of Strand aspects and fragments (like The Wanderer) in terms of more combat utility. Healing shots don't consume heavy ammo, so, typically, a player could spam-heal their fresh-grown Ness-nearly instantly-mature it and gain a Tangle in seconds.
Crucible and Endgame Viability
The Service of Luzaku in Destiny 2 Renegades shows great promise in high-level PvE and possibly some PvP settings.
Being PvE: This weapon indeed strikes the work of keeping you alive while managing crowds in high-difficulty activities because the combination includes not only an infinite-reload mechanic and constant Threadling generation (which can be stacked with many other Strand exotics/aspects) but also the ability to generate Tangles.
Gambit/PvP: Yes, not a pure PvP weapon, but what it can track and pound is pretty effective against, to say the least, any kind of blocker. This, of course, against invading Guardians, only increases its threat profile within Gambit. But just imagine an obnoxious, Threadling-spitting Ness in base Crucible environments. That makes it a funny and probably viable form of harassment.
