Find All Vault Key Fragment Locations in Borderlands 4
Hey vault hunters! Today we're exploring how to find all Vault Key Fragment locations in Borderlands 4 within the Fadefields starting area. Unlocking this hidden vault gives you awesome loot and permanent character upgrades - I got faster regeneration for my glider! Here's everything you need to know about locating those fragments.
The process is pretty straightforward but easy to miss if you don't know where to look. You'll need to find and activate three different silos scattered around the map, each revealing a vault fragment nearby. Once you collect all three fragments, you can unlock the hidden vault door and take on the boss inside for some fantastic rewards!
First Vault Key Fragment Locations in Borderlands 4 - Stockroom Silo
The first silo you'll likely encounter is the Stockroom silo located right near the beginning area. After activating it and clearing out any enemies, check your map - it'll show a circular area where the fragment is hidden. For this one, head to the bottom left corner of the map area.
Look for a building near the water's edge
Check the back corner on top of some boxes
The fragment glows with a distinctive light
It's right above the water area, hard to miss once you're close
I found mine sitting on a box at the very back of this structure. The detection bars on your screen will fill up as you get closer, making it easier to spot exactly where it's hiding.
Second Vault Key Fragment - Kit Hole Silo Location
The second fragment is near the Kit Hole silo by the launch pad area in Fadefields. After activating this silo, it'll direct you to a circular zone with a large rock formation in the center. Don't waste time climbing to the top - that's not where it's hidden!
Instead, head to the far side of the rock structure where you'll find a small cave entrance with some glowing balls near it. The vault fragment is tucked away inside this cave area on the backside of the formation. The detection system really helps here since it can be tricky to spot at first.
Third Vault Key Fragment Locations in Borderlands 4 - Deep Seven Silo
The final fragment is by the Deep Seven silo on the far right side of Fadefields. This one's a bit more hidden than the others. After activating the silo, you'll need to head to the location shown on your map and look for a sewer area with metal grates.
You can actually see the fragment through the grates if you look down into the sewers! To reach it, you'll need to find a broken hole in a nearby structure that leads to an underground area. Just ignore the enemies and run through this broken section to reach the underground part where the final fragment is waiting.
Unlocking and Completing the Vault
Once you have all three Vault Key Fragment locations in Borderlands 4 collected, your map will reveal a new area showing the vault door location. Head toward the mountain area but don't bother with the lower caves - you need to climb to the very top where you'll find broken arches.
Interact with the console to use your completed vault key, which will rebuild the arches and create a portal to the vault interior. Inside, you'll face waves of enemies, mini-bosses, and finally the main vault boss. The mechanics involve grappling to expose critical points and avoiding poison floors during the boss fight.
After defeating the boss, you'll get great loot plus access to two bonus chests. The best part? You can respawn the boss using the Moxxi machine and farm this vault repeatedly for awesome gear! The chests respawn too, making this an excellent farming spot early in the game.
