Guide to defeat the Zhu Bajie Boss in Black Myth: Wukong
The fight with Zhu Bajie, the "Pig Demon" of Chinese legend, is a true test in Black Myth: Wukong. This massive enemy wields his gigantic nine-pronged rake, with sheer force, sudden agility, and overwhelming earth-based attacks. To successfully beat Zhu Bajie Boss in Black Myth Wukong, one must strategically plan out their attack and capitalize on the boss's specific vulnerabilities. Zhu Bajie is located in the Lanxi Village area during Chapter Four and serves as an important proving ground for the player's proficiency with the game's fundamental fight mechanics.
Pre-Engagement Plan: Location and Preparation
Fighting Zhu Bajie requires more than brute power; it demands calculated gear and thoughtful positioning.

Where to find the Pig Demon
Zhu Bajie can be located in the heart of the Misty Forest, which can be reached by progressing through the first game chapters.
Access Route: Pursue the main quest line through the Dense Bamboo Grove and into the Misty Forest.
Environmental Hazards: The path is marked by uneven terrain and light enemy fires, which are a preview of the challenge of the next boss fight. The Destined One will face Zhu Bajie waiting in the middle of this treacherous forest.
Recommended Equipment and Supplies
To effectively fight the Zhu Bajie Boss, focus your preparation on surviving his strong-impact physical and earth-type attacks.
Armor Selection: The Iron Mountain Armor set is also suggested because it offers the best combination of physical defense and necessary mobility.
Weapon Selection: Employ the Wind-Forged Staff. It has excellent reach and attack speed so that the player can always strike damage while having a safe attack distance.
Consumables: Consume Elixirs of Resilience to immediately boost defense versus earth damage, along with regular Healing Herbs for fast healing from damage during the intense fight.

Phase One Attack Breakdown and Counter-Plan
Phase one is all about landing massive melee combos and zone control. Your mission is to be patient, bait attacks, and punish his recovery cycles.

Initial Phase One Attacks
Attack Type | Description | Counter-Strategy |
---|---|---|
Three-Hit Combo | Torch left-to-right rake swing with a usual finish as a powerful jump smash. | Backstep repeatedly or dodge the opposite direction of the rake. Back off right away if Zhu Bajie winds up the jump to the jump smash version. |
Two-Hit Smash | Zhu Bajie briefly charges (marked by a small tornado) and two hearty smashes in close succession with his rake. | Dodge to the right as he unleashes the first smash, and to the left for the second. Duck the stun range of the tornado. |
Acid Spit | Zhu Bajie squats down and spits acid in three or five simultaneous streams. | Back off as he squats down. Use the thin openings between the acid streams to avoid being hit. |
Leap Combo | Jump quickly up in the air, then delay the smash, a second strike, and a finishing dropkick. | When jumping, dodge right quickly, then backwards in tandem. Sidestep the dropkick by dodging left or right, never backwards. |
General Phase One Principles
Dodge and Counter: Most Zhu Bajie attacks have a noticeable delay. Wait until he completes the entire sequence of his attack before rushing in with a few fast-fire hits, then retreat immediately.
Exploit Stuns: After some of his heavy combos, Zhu Bajie will stun for a brief moment. Exploit the brief window to let out heavy hits or specials to deal the most amount of damage possible.
Rake Swipe: Avoid the fast, two-swipe rake swipe combination.
Phase Two: Enraged State and Tar Field

As Zhu Bajie's HP drops below 50%, he enters into enraged mode and will enter a secondary phase in the Tar field, introducing new environmental and elemental hazards.
More Phase Two Attacks
Downward Smash (Start of Phase): Zhu Bajie soars above the arena before battle. Counter: When he enters the arena, keep moving non-stop and time a precise dodge to the right when he dives in to create a counterattack window.
Five-Hit Combo: Same combo as Phase One but this time with acid attacks on his fists. Counter: Avoid the extended combo chain by dodging left or right.
Tar Explosions and Rams: Zhu Bajie charges and the Tar-covered ground explodes and bubbles, and he rams over and over. Counter: Attempt to pass through the bubbling Tar grounds. When he charges towards you, dodge to the right at the last second before he lands, and he will stumble and collapse later on, providing a chance for a full combo.
Advanced Phase Two Threats
Tar Metamorphosis (Boar): Zhu Bajie is changed into a massive, Tar-drenched boar that calls forth smaller wild boars for constant ramming attacks. Counter: Wait for the charging boars to be mere steps away, then roll to the right to pass through all charging enemies at once.
Fish Transformation: In the Tar field, he sometimes transforms into a fish creature and tries to roll over you. Counter: Dodge forward to make use of your invincibility frames and not get hurt during the roll.
Back Kick: Zhu Bajie rapidly turns his back and with a big double-legged kick tries to kick the player. Counter: Dodge to the side. Dodging back is also an option but entails much more risk.
Rewards for Defeating Zhu Bajie
Triumph over Zhu Bajie Boss gives the Destined One great rewards for augmenting general combat capability.
Legendary Weapon: You will get Zhu Bajie's Rake, a powerful weapon greatly prized for its excellent crowd-controlling attributes.
Unique Emblem: Victory in the Emblem of the Pig Demon allows you to gain a unique, high-level skill in your character's skill tree.
Experience and Materials: There is also plenty of experience points and rare crafting materials provided, which keeps you prepared to deal with the difficult challenges that Black Myth: Wukong has in store for you.
What of Zhu Bajie's elemental attacks does it take you the most work to parry or dodge each time?
