Get RED CHEST in Borderlands 4: The Steel Shore
This amazing chest is available super early. The best part? It's infinite. Just open it, grab all the awesome guns, restart your game from a super close checkpoint, and do it all over again. Every time you open it, the guns will be at your current level. Perfect for when you need a specific gear upgrade.
It's located right after one of the first story missions, which unlocks a safe house for fast travel.
From there, you can jump out, glide, and even land in a vehicle mid-air (so cool!).
Just head towards the shore to activate the crucial checkpoint.
Unlocking the RED CHEST LEGENDARY Farm Spot
From your checkpoint, head towards the area called Steel Shore. You’ll spot the red chest on a second floor, locked with a red chain. To unlock it, you gotta clear out all the enemies nearby. The waves are pretty manageable—you’ll get some weaker foes followed by one or two Badasses, which is great because they can also drop fantastic gear, even legendaries!
I love testing the new guns from the chest on these enemies. If you find a killer legendary weapon, you can just respawn the enemies by restarting and try it out again. You'll also see some new enemy types here, like the Arms Dealer. Take him down, and he might explode into a pile of guns or even Iridium.
A Pro Tip: The Steel Shore Fishing Spots
Now, here’s another cool thing about Steel Shore: fishing! Around this area, there are five random fishing spots where you'll see fish splashing. You can grapple them, but fair warning:
You'll mostly pull up cans. Not sure what they're for yet, maybe a future challenge.
Sometimes, you'll snag a weapon that flies into the air, and you have to quickly grapple the one you want.
The actual fish are super rare and part of a challenge. I've only caught two! It's tricky because the grapple auto-targets weapons instead of the fish sometimes.
Another Great Location to Get RED CHEST in Borderlands 4
When you reach around rank 25, you’ll find another infinite red chest in the Shattered Lands at a place called Camp Spine Squelch. It works the same way: a nearby checkpoint, clear the enemies, loot, and restart. While it's useful, I prefer the Steel Shore spot—it feels a bit quicker and the enemy density is lower. You’ll know you've cleared all enemies when the on-screen indicators and health bars go back to normal.
