Destiny2 Ash and Iron Exotic Item: The New Meta is Almost Here
Hey everyone, what's up! So, you have just about two days left before some exotic gear becomes absolutely meta with the new Destiny2 Ash and Iron Exotic item updates. How do we know? Well, Bungie went ahead and revealed all the buffs and nerfs coming in the big update.
While there were some nerfs that had the community pretty unhappy, there were also some huge, massive buffs to specific exotics. Let's check out the biggest winners—the exotic gear getting some serious power boosts that you'll wanna know about.
If you have these, maybe pull them from your vault or collections and get them ready!
Destiny2 Ash and Iron Exotic Weapons
Two classic weapons are getting complete makeovers, and Bungie is basically pushing them to be top-tier.
MIDA Multi-Tool's Complete Overhaul
Right now, the MIDA Multi-Tool is kinda a relic. Its traits just make you move faster and keep your radar up while aiming. The catalyst just gives you reduced flinch. But what's changing? Well, as you can see, Bungie totally revamped it. It's gonna gain different effects in various stages as you get kills. Long story short, stages one, two, and three each give you 5% more PvE damage.
Then at stage four, after enough kills, you essentially get explosive payload. So this scout rifle becomes an explosive rounds weapon with 15% more PvE damage plus all the other benefits. You can even increase these stages using other MIDA-synergy weapons, like that legendary SMG we saw returning in the trailer. There also looks to be a MIDA synergy shotgun, so you could use a special ammo weapon to build stages faster.
Sturm and Drang Are Back Together
The other weapon getting a similar treatment is the ancient Sturm exotic hand cannon. Right now, its thing is that kills fill the magazine of your equipped energy weapon, and Drang kills reload Sturm with a bonus damage round. Well, massive overhaul incoming. The big change? Rapid kills with "Together Forever" weapons within three seconds will now load extra Sturm overcharge rounds.
And "Together Forever" weapons means we're not only getting a revamped Drang, but footage shows a Drang that shoots rocket-assisted projectiles! That means you can use a special ammo sidearm to fuel your Sturm. They're also adding a brand new catalyst where overcharge shots grant charges that provide a 50% ready and stow speed bonus for Sturm and its paired weapon. Pure upside, definitely one to watch out for.
Oh, and an important note on these two: they're being added to the "Featured Weapons" list, which means they'll do 10% more damage in PvE activities. Just a straight, free damage buff.
Other Featured Exotics to Keep an Eye On
Speaking of that featured list, two other weapons stand to gain a ton from that 10% damage bonus.
The D.A.R.C.I. Sniper Rifle's Time to Shine?
Bungie has buffed D.A.R.C.I. like three times now, and it's still not quite there. But guys, we're getting close. It's now going to jolt targets it shoots. Its trait lets you aim at a target to view their health and crit info, and while you do that, it starts doing more and more damage. The catalyst then turns it into a support weapon, buffing the damage of your allies using non-exotic sniper rifles.
All we need now is a seasonal artifact perk that buffs snipers, and suddenly having one person on D.A.R.C.I. duty could be a legit strategy. That 10% featured damage bonus is nothing to scoff at.
Sleeper Simulant Just Hits Harder
This is already one of the hardest-hitting heavy weapons in the entire game. Every single shot just absolutely cranks enemies. And now? It just does 10% more damage because it's featured. You don't have to do anything crazy, just equip it. It's outright better now.
Destiny2 Ash and Iron Exotic Armor
It's not just weapons; some armor is getting significant tweaks too.
Hunter: The Cyrtarachnes Facade
This is already one of the best Hunter exotics for PvE, especially for Strand hunters. Well, it just got a buff. Now you're going to get health back when you defeat enemies. So you have an exotic that gives you an easy way to get damage reduction and now heals you on kills. If you're a Cyrtarachnes enjoyer, this just got a lot better.
Warlock: Contraverse Hold Gauntlets
This is the one I'm most excited for. These gauntlets let you resist incoming damage while charging your Void grenade with Chaos Accelerant, and they return grenade energy on hits. The buff? Charged grenades will now apply Weaken for free. The energy returned has been tuned per grenade type, with Vortox getting a slight increase (but it can't activate twice per nade).
But the huge deal is getting that Weaken effect without needing a fragment. This frees up your fragment slot for something else, like Echo of Provision for melee energy on grenade hits. Getting free Weaken is massive, making this a huge buff for Voidlock builds.
There you have it, folks! Those are the exotics you need to watch out for going into the Ash and Iron update. Hope you found this helpful
